Functions and Characteristic
This series of fruit sclerometers (also called fruit hardness tester) include GY-1, GY-2, GY-3, which are used to test
the hardness of apple, pear, strawberry, grape, etc to determine the maturity degree of fruit. It is suitable for the fruit
tree scientific research department, the fruits company, the farm and college to develop improved varieties.It also can
be applied to harvest storage and product transportation. This instrument is lower noise, light and easy to use. So it is
very suitable for the scene determination.
The hardness of fruit is defined as normal force per unit area of the fruit.
P—the value of hardness, unit of measurement is 105 Pa or (kg/cm2)
N—the value of pressure, unit of measurement is N or kg.
S—the value of area, unit of measurement m2 or (cm2)
|Measuring range||2-15kg/cm2 (×105Pa)||0.5-4kg/cm2 (×105Pa)||0.5-12kg/cm2 (×105Pa)||0.5-24kg/cm2 (×105Pa)|
|Size of pressure head||Φ3.5mm||Φ3.5mm||Φ11mm||Φ8mm|
1.Before measuring: Rotate the dial, make the driver pointer aligned with the first scale line.(The first scale line of AGY-1 is “2”, The first scale line of
AGY-2 and AGY-3 is “0.5”.) peel 1 cm2 skin on the fruit that is under test.
2.Measuring: Hold the sclerometer, make the sclerometer perpendicular to the surface of the fruit. And then slowly insert the pressure head into the fruit.
When the pressure head is up to the 10 mm scale line, the value indicating pointer point to is the hardness of the fruit.You’d better test the fruit for three times, and
then calculate an average.
3.After measuring :Rotary the RZ knob to make indicators reset to the initial scale line.
